David Price
Rookie David Price will start tomorrow against the Twins. If he’s still available and you need pitching down the stretch, take him now. For keeper leagues this is a no doubter. Use your #1 waiver priority on this guy. He’s the real deal.

Cameron Maybin
Is there anyone hotter? Probably not. He’s a huge talent and it looks like he’ll be up in the majors for the rest of the season. He’s got all 5 tools and isn’t afraid to run. I haven’t posted for a while because the season is basically over but this guy had to be mentioned.
Looking forward:
I guess I’ll start thinking about making projections and sleepers for next season. Anyone or anything you want me to look into?

Pablo Sandoval
If you are desperate for a Catcher, you must look at Pablo Sandoval. With back to back multi hit games against SD including a HR, you can expect the solid hitting backstop for SF to be a solid play for the week to come.

Shin-Soo Choo
Look, I’ve been meaning to write about this OF for a couple weeks now and I can only hope he’ll still be available on your wire. He’s on an awesome streak and there’s no reason to think he’ll slow down soon. Pick him up while Dickerson is questionable, but i wouldn’t drop Chris Dickerson either.
Look at all these OF off the wire! Just a few more names:
Elijah Dukes
Lastings Milledge
Joey Votto
Adam Jones — keep a look out for him… again.
Denard Span

Check Out Cinci
The Cincinnati Reds have some excellent fantasy players. If any of these guys are still somehow FA in your leagues, you should really consider adding them while they are hot.
1. Jay Bruce – We get it, he’s no RJB (Ryan J. Braun) but he’s still “ubertalented.”
2. Chris Dickerson — I’ve mentioned him before. He’s an absolute stud; a must add.
3. Joey Votto — He’s proven to be a very streaky hitter but he happens to be on a good streak right now, smashing a HR 3 days in a row. He’s eligible at 1b and OF — Use that in daily leagues.
4. Johnny Cueto — Mentioned him yesterday. Probably a must add at this point though a recommended SIT against the Cubs.
5. Bronson Arroyo — Check out his recent numbers — he’s been very good.
real quick: remember when I cautioned Francisco Liriano owners about his slowed velocity… PSH like it mattered. What can you say about the guy that hasn’t already been said. He’s incredible.

More Starting Pitchers
Here are some guys who might be available in your league. All of these pitchers should only be thrown out there when their matchups are favorable.
1. Todd Wellemeyer – A sharp August should carry over to September– watch the matchups.
2. Johnny Cueto – His August has been great. He could be found on the wire because of that DL stint.
3. Shawn Marcum — He’s finally back and is worth a flier in hopes that he’ll return to first half form.
4. Anthony Reyes is also worth a look.
Brandon Morrow
For many, this news comes late, but if Brandon Morrow is available in your league, you must pick him up now. Brandon Morrow is in many ways similar to Joba Chamberlain. Both are dominating and both SP are converted RP.
Brandon Morrow has more of a chance to start hotter out of the gate than Joba.
Brandon Morrow is AWESOME and should be a top starter next year and for years to come.

HOT Adds SP
If you play with a trade deadline your only hope is the waiver wire. These names will help:
1. Hiroki Kuroda — His upcoming schedule is an absolute joke. He’s set to face San Diego, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. Are you kidding me? If he’s not owned already grab him right now.
2. Josh Johnson — Tommy John surgery is awesome… So is Josh Johnson. Since returning from the DL, you’ll notice that he’s increased the velocity on his fastball and his ERA has decreased to a serious 3.12. Not bad. He’ll have some favorable matchups down the stretch as well.
3. Dana Eveland — His last two starts were impressive and so is his upcoming schedule. If you need a Starting Pitcher and the above two are already taken then this is your guy, depending of course on your league.

Anthony Reyes
Anthony Reyes makes for an interesting option down the stretch. There were a lot of expectations for Reyes and it makes you wonder if the move to Cleveland is what he needed. The only thing I worry about from this point forward is his K/BB ratio.
He goes up against Seattle today.

Elijah Dukes Returns
An outstanding night for Elijah Dukes against the Dodgers. He’s absolutely worth a pickup. He’s got both speed and power plus he won’t hurt your average. One’s criminal record has nothing to do with his performance… Most of the time.

Frank Francisco for Saves
Eddie Guardado was traded to the Twins. That leaves Frank Francisco with the save opportunities — at least for now! He hasn’t been pitching that well recently but then again neither was Guardado! His K to BB ratio is nice so the numbers indicate no problems. It’s just that he’s not an elite RP so don’t expect him to be one!
If he blows consecutive saves the Rangers probably won’t have too much of an issue going by committee. For now, Francisco is the most likely for saves.

OF with Speed
At this point we don’t need to talk about Denard Span because we’ve done that already. How bout that other outfielder on the Twins, Carlos Gomez. He’s still got the speed and he’s a better hitter than the way he’s been hitting so if you need speed he’s worth the add.
And one more OF with good speed and all around ability, the red hot Chris Dickerson. He’s leading off for Cinci and he’s on fire. He’s got speed, he’s hitting for average and is contributing in pretty much every category. Go get this guy.

Al Reyes for Saves?
The Mets signed Al Reyes to a minor league deal. He’ll make a few appearances there, get back into the swing of things, and has a pretty decent chance at collecting some saves. The Mets’ bullpen is terrible so this all makes sense. If you are in desperate for saves, why not.
